VALATIE — Thanks to John Noecker of Noecker 66 Inc. on Route 66 in
Hudson, students at Ichabod Crane High School have been able to learn safe
driving techniques through the District’s Driver’s Education Program.
Despite the economic difficulties faced by many business owners, this is
the second summer that Noecker has provided vehicles for the program at no
cost to the district.
This year, 37 students have benefited from a course of study that includes a
minimum of 24 hours driving time in small groups, as well as another 24
hours of classroom instruction to better prepare them to be safe and
responsible drivers.
Ichabod Crane High School Assistant Principal Daniel Farley, coordinator
of the program, acknowledged Noecker’s community stewardship.
"This community support is the key to helping everyone through challenging
times," Farley said in a press release.
"His generosity exemplifies the spirit of concern for our children and their
future that will allow schools to continue offering programs despite
budgetary shortfalls on the state and national level."
